Owner of Law Office of Abdelrahman A. Abbar, a private law
office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia representing local and international clients in
connection with commercial transactional matters.
1988 - 1991
General Counsel to Saudi Arabian
Marketing & Refining Corporation ("SAMAREC") the Saudi Arabian governmental
petroleum company responsible for the Kingdom's refining and marketing
activities. Acted as legal advisor to the Corporate Management Committee in
connection with all aspects of company operations and as executive manager to
legal department net comprising over 25 in-house legal advisors. Responsible
for overseeing all legal review of internal legal matters, negotiation and
preparation of all significant contracts with third parties, development of
standard for legal documentation for routine operational matters and directing
all litigation involving company.
1985 - 1987
Two years banking experience at Investors Federal
Saving and Loan Association, Miami, Florida, as legal consultant for
international, financial law and international tax law. Experience advising
international clientele in aspects of financial management, international tax
structuring of business operations and personal tax estate
planning.

Vice-President of internationally diversified group of companies with principal
offices in Saudi Arabia. Experienced in commercial trading, shipping and
industrial and civil construction. Responsible for preparation and evaluation
of feasibility studies and business analysis, evaluating joint-venture
partners, negotiating agreements, arranging loans and other financial
instruments, negotiating loan agreements and guarantees and related financial
documentation. Familiar with all aspects of corporate balance sheet analysis
and corporate structure and management. Negotiated and implemented vessel time
and voyage charters, and oversaw the management and operation of a fleet of
ships, negotiated and financed new buildings and carried out various related
aspects of ship sale and financing.
